This Sucks Podcast with Filmmaker Cameron A. Mitchell
Wednesday Apr 26, 2023
Wednesday Apr 26, 2023
A few months back, I was contacted by Tequila Mockingbird Productions in Los Angeles about a film called This Sucks. They wondered if I would like to interview writer/director Cameron A. Mitchell for my podcast. Long story short, I was sent a preview link and watched the movie while eating a Vegemite sandwich. I liked This Sucks and thought it was very socially aware for a film shot in 9 days.
We’re in a global pandemic, no one has a narrative arc!
This Sucks is a black comedy set during Christmas 2020. Chronically depressed Jess, her LGBTQ best friend, chatty roommate, and ex-boyfriend struggle to survive COVID quarantine. Each character has a red-faced demon that follows them, a physical manifestation of their inner depression.
This podcast contains themes around filmmaking, depression, racism, and the importance of “found families.”

Filmmaker Saara Lamberg and the Risky Cinema Podcast
Wednesday Mar 08, 2023
Wednesday Mar 08, 2023
Saara Lamberg steps on stage. “I’d like to be able to diversify Australian cinema,” she tells the audience at the Melbourne Made Film Festival. The fiercely independent filmmaker is a unique figure in Aussie cinema, a female writer/director/producer in an industry mostly dominated by men. But what intrigues me is that she also takes the lead role in her films. This includes the Westermarck Effect her most recent film. A story about a woman who falls in love with her biological son. It's risky cinema. But to quote David Lynch, “Don’t make a film if it can’t be the film you want to make! It will kill you.”
In this podcast, Saara Lamberg and I chat about her journey from Helsinki to becoming Melbourne’s best-known indie filmmaker. We also chat about “attraction” and why Saara doesn’t care much about gender!

Kelly Cupo and Audrey Hepburn Consider Their Assets
Friday Feb 03, 2023
Friday Feb 03, 2023
Flashback – Church Street sometime in 2015. I’m holding auditions for a new Australian musical called Audrey Hepburn and I Consider Our Assets. In walks Kelly Cupo, her hair pulled back and she’s wearing a tight black skirt. I thought her smile infectious and she lit up the room when she sang. I knew immediately she was my leading lady, Liz O’Sullivan. A young woman who in her therapy sessions imagines she’s talking to her idol, Audrey Hepburn.
In the podcast, Kelly Cupo chats about singing in Antarctica, mental health, turning 40 and why she’s still hopelessly devoted to silver screen star Audrey Hepburn.
Contains themes around mental health and suicide.

Happy Every After Podcast
Tuesday Jan 10, 2023
Tuesday Jan 10, 2023
“Deep sadness sits at the base of my belly always.”
Ros Lewis is a Melbourne writer and psychologist, originally from the land of Aotearoa (New Zealand). She writes poetry, writes a blog (www.amiworthit.com), and recently completed a memoir. She’d probably describe herself as a mother, a hippie, a feminist and a survivor. Recently I attended a reading of a play Ros was working on called ‘Happy Ever After.’ An expanded version of a piece she’d written for a show I created in 2017 called ‘Love Kills.’ Using poetry, narrative and humour, ‘Happy Ever After’ tells the true story of a woman’s search for love, only to be subjected to the trauma of intimate partner violence. I enjoyed the reading and asked Ros if she’d join me on my podcast channel. Happily, she answered, “Yes. When did you want to record it?”
This podcast contains themes of trauma and domestic violence.

A Taste of Horror Podcast
Saturday Sep 03, 2022
Saturday Sep 03, 2022
I was out at a friend’s birthday lunch and someone brought up horror movies just after the food was served. Judging from the conversation, I discovered everyone has a favourite horror movie they remember from childhood.
“I loved Carrie! The Brian De Palma film, not the remake!”
“I remember watching John Carpenter’s The Thing!”
“I liked psychological horror…like Rosemary’s Baby,” I confessed.
“Have you seen Targets?” Steven Boltz asked from the other side of the table. “I have,” I replied, “I saw it as part of a double feature.” I consider myself a horror movie fan, but Steven’s a horror movie fanatic with 3000 films in his personal collection. Steven Boltz is also the Creative Director of the Knack Theatre in Melbourne. They run regular script readings in Melbourne. A month later, Knack Theatre hosted a reading of my play Ghost Story. After the reading, I asked Steven if he’d like to be a guest on my podcast, Noel Anderson's 15 Mins of Fame and chat about horror movies!
In the podcast, we discuss social, sexual and ecological horror, and chinwag about the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Shining. All up, 20 classic horror movies get a mention! So grab some popcorn and push play.
Welcome to A Taste of Horror!
Hosted by Noel Anderson with special guest Steven T Boltz

Local Laughs Podcast
Wednesday Jun 01, 2022
Wednesday Jun 01, 2022
The Tap House Hotel in Balaclava is a couple of blocks away, and I have often dropped in for a little comedy on Monday night. The evening is called “Local Laughs,” except during the COVID-19 lockdown, it’s been on every week for 19 years. The longest-running comedy room in Melbourne! Judith Lucy, Dave Hughes and Adam Hills have all worked the tiny Tap House stage. A night at Local Laughs wouldn’t be the same without its mistress of mirth and MC, Janet McLeod. Initially from Ballarat, and dubbed the Fairy Godmother of Melbourne Comedy, she is a writer, performer, trivia trailblazer and co-host of the popular Cinema Fiasco. Janet is also the producer of Local Laughs.
"I was a shy child. It wasn’t until I started doing theatre sports, I started to loosen up. I found my crew"

Dirty Little Secrets Podcast
Wednesday Mar 02, 2022
Wednesday Mar 02, 2022
Nandita Chakraborty is an Indian Australian author with two published novels under her belt. Her new book Dirty Little Secrets, a memoir set in Delhi and Melbourne, takes her readers on a no-holds-barred account of what it means to lose oneself and rise like a phoenix to start anew.
“The distance from Delhi to Melbourne is 10,213 km and the total distance to travel in search of oneself is limitless” – Nandita Chakroborty
Nandita and I are friends on Facebook. I had no idea that behind her cheery DM’s she held secrets, suffered terrible heartache and sustained a disability after falling 40 metres. When we next texted on social media, I asked Nandita if she’d like to be a guest on my podcast channel, Noel Anderson’s 15 Mins of Fame .
She replied, to my delight. “I’d love to.”
Nandita then sent an attachment about the dangers of online dating. Headline – ‘She thought she’d found love, but instead, she was scammed!’ “I’m featured in this article. Have you seen the Tinder Swindler?” I hadn’t seen the Netflix series. But made a mental note to view it. “Watch it!” she texted back. I hit thumbs up
Listen to “Dirty Little Secrets Podcast!”
Nandita supports Disability Australia, Beyond Blue and Bully Zero.
